A packing declaration must be completed for all FCL (full container load) or LCL (less than container load) freight imported to Australia.

Documents must be issued by the person or company who packed and/or supplied the goods, and must include contact details, including company name and address.

Other requirements include:

  • vessel name and voyage number,
  • consignment identifiers, such as container number, packing list number etc..,
  • statements regarding the use of prohibited materials for packing, including timber and whether any bark is present on timber used,
  • A cleanliness statement is required for FCL containers.

Annual packing declarations can be made by importers who regularly import the same products, from the same supplier each time. Contact Clarke Global for information on how to apply for an exemption.
