After a 2 day hearing at the Fair Work Commission, the Maritime Union of Australia (MUA) has announced that it would immediately end industrial action at Patrick terminals in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Fremantle.

There is still a massive backlog of containers around Australia, exceeding more than 100,000, that need to be cleared and it is estimated that this could take between 2 – 3 months, hopefully in time for Christmas deliveries.  The availability of medication for diabetes was critically affected due to the delays, but the relevant container has now been located and discharged.

The announcement from Patrick Terminals is available HERE.
