Breaking news: Massive blaze on ship off Port Kembla

A bulk iron-ore carrier, the ‘Iron Chieftain’, in Port Kembla Harbour has caught on fire overnight, with around 100 fire fighters battling the massive blaze at the moment.  The fire broke out on a conveyor belt in the cargo hold of the ship with the cause yet to be determined.  Crew have been evacuated, no injuries reported and the EPA is currently assessing the situation for risk of oil spillage.  Shipping off Port Kembla has been suspended for the moment as it may take some time for the blaze to be brought under control.
